Public Pianos of Rotterdam; Part Two
The internet will tell you that there is a public piano in the Passage of the Erasmus Hospital in Rotterdam since January last year.
I can tell you it is actually surprisingly in tune.
I hijacked it for two whole hours around lunchtime, with repertoire ranging from Bach partitas to Liszt’s Consolations. At one point, I was approached by a lady in a wheelchair, who asked me to play a piece again (Schubert’s op. 90 no. 3 Impromptu), so that she could record it for the people on her floor.
Well, who am I to say no to that.
She ended up recording two more pieces, and left wreathed in smiles after promising me that she’d send me the youtube links as soon as she’d uploaded the pieces.
Unfortunately, I haven’t received them yet.
So I guess I’m just going to have to hijack the piano again.
